It is possible that this could be a larger variant of the SH-B1 Plasma Saw that Vandal used in Dead Space (mobile). Its just so shockingly violent, and despite not liking horror as a teen I loooooved Dead Space. On a deep space mining mission to a remote planet, an ancient religious relic - thought to be proof of the existence of God - is unearthed and brought aboard. the mainstream, so, too, does AI-generated porn. I havent seen Downfall in a while but I remember most of it, however that one bit of the girl getting cut in half haunted me more than any gore the games produced. Porn generators have improved while the ethics around them become stickier. In the final version of the game, there are no usable melee weaponry accessible to the player(s), though it could have been finalized into the default Hydraulic Engine attachment which serves a similar purpose. Dead Space Downfall gets too chaotic over the 5 minutes. 
In the announcement trailer for Dead Space 3, Isaac is briefly shown wielding what appears to be the plasma saw. Shen was killed by Hanson, a crazed security sergeant using a Plasma Saw. The team then replaced their issued firearms with the Plasma Saws due to their greater efficiency. 
He came to their rescue, effortlessly slicing the Slashers apart with his saw. team made their first stand against a horde of Slashers. Samuel Irons found a crate of these saws and viewed the find as a "divine discovery", just down the hall from where the P.C.S.I.
